To the peoples of the greater Harmuran region, history begins when Celestials arrived. They reshaped the land, established the Spirit Realm, and granted Magic to a select few of the indigenous Humans, creating the first Immortals: the Starborne and the Windborne.
The Peninsula of Harmura was divided into eight Sanctums, each ruled by a Sanctum Master believed to be magically chosen as its absolute authority. In common belief, the Starborne were made to govern the land, and the Windborne were made to enact their will.
Establishment of Immortals
History tells that Celestials came down from the heavens and transformed a small peninsula into a living embodiment of the eight trigrams, naming that land Harmura. They blessed sixteen Humans with Trigram Magic, a man and woman aligned to each trigram, creating the first Starborne. These sixteen were given the directive to rule their respective territories, becoming the first Sanctum Master.
Tradition also holds that the Windborne began as sixty-four humans that were altered to be able to access wings for flight and Phase Magic. These sixty-four were given the directive to serve as assistants, called upon to carry out the will of their Sanctum Master.
Over the generations, Starborne and Windborne reproduced, creating a growing class of Immortals who believed themselves destined to rule over Humans. As their numbers increased, they spread outward from Harmura, with each new generation producing Starborne who sought territories of their own to govern.
Establishment of the Harmuran Calendar
Harmuran CalendarSince Harmura is the region’s dominant administrative and trade hub, the Harmuran Calendar (HC; and BHC for dates before Year 0) is the most widely used system for dating events across the Greater Harmuran Region.
The treaty that ended Harmura’s War Against Slavery became the era marker. The solar year in which it was signed was later defined as Year 0 of the Harmuran Calendar.
