Veilwalker

One who can slip through places like water. They can also observe and travel distances through reflections of liquids and mirrors.

Origins

The Veilskin inhabits the
☵ Water Sanctum
and involuntarily merges with a host for life, transforming them into a
Veilwalker
.
Upon the hosts death, the Veilskin searches for a new host. Can take months, years, or decades to choose the next host.

Host’s Appearance

  • Their outline wavers, like heat rising off stone, even in still air. This makes them difficult to see clearly, causing discomfort in the observer.
  • Eyes as black as the deepest sea. No whites, just black.
  • Black blood. Black veins can be seen where the skin is thin, like under the arms and on the neck.

Powers

  • Liquidform: Her body can dissolve and slip through cracks, keyholes, drains, or seams—anywhere water might pass.
  • Mirrorspy: Can connect to any reflection — mirrors, still water, polished metal — and observe whatever is around it. Can also hear any sound waves that reach the reflection’s surface.
  • Mirrorstep: Can travel instantly through reflections

Spirit Within

The Veilskin is a sentient spirit born of the ☵ Water Sanctum, ancient and willful. It chooses a single host and binds to their body for life. From the moment of merging, the host is never alone.
The Veilskin speaks. Its voice is low, fluid, and ever-present in the host’s mind. At first, communication is unclear, a swirl of emotions and instincts. Over time, language emerges—then personality. Some hosts fight it. Others forge uneasy truces. A few, rare ones become true partners.
The spirit does not fully surrender itself. It has desires. Curiosity. Hunger. Old memories from past hosts. The spirit views secrets as sacred currency, and privacy as weakness. It thrives in hidden places—and resents exposure.
The host must learn to work with it—or risk being drowned by it.
